Attention Water Customer: New state and federal laws require us to inventory all water service lines in our service area. A service line is the underground pipe that carries water from the water main, likely in the street, into your home or building. We need to determine the material that your service line is made of, which means we will need your help. Service lines are often copper, plastic, lead, or galvanized iron or steel. Older homes and buildings may have a lead service line. Drinking water is free from lead when it leaves our water treatment plant. However, water can absorb lead as it travels through lead pipes on its way to your faucet. Lead can cause serious health problems. If you have a lead service line, we need to take steps to reduce your lead exposure risk. Knowing your service line material is very important for your health and safety! The Town of Springfield Water Employees may come to your home to chat with you in regards to your water pipes. We ask that you please cooperate with them, or alternatively, please investigate them yourself and complete the following survey. https://www.springfieldco.gov/forms/7329 As always, if you have any questions, please call our office at 719-523-4528.
